Hi everyone :) I'm Chloe, a first year law student.
To keep things short and sweet, here's why I'd love this opportunity to serve as Treasurer for UCL's Student Action for Refugees Society:
Interest
I've always been interested in refugee rights and learning more about how we can hep them. Here's what I've done so far!
- Events Officer for SolidariTee, a student-led charity which aims to raise awareness and raise funds for asylum seekers and refugees.
- One out of the five individuals on the Executive Committee Member of Effective Altruism UCL, a society which aims to find the best possible ways to help as many individuals as possible.
- Written and researched for a 5,000 word dissertation on how refugees and asylum seekers have been failed by international human rights laws.
Experience
Here's how my experiences can help as Treasurer:
- Experience in using accounting software (Xero)
- Worked part-time accounting the finances for small, local firms.
- Work experience with financial institutions such as HSBC which has helped to build my knowledge of managing finances for organisations.
- Finance at AS-Level has given me basic know-how when it comes to large-scale financial planning and budgeting, along with bookkeeping.
Vision
Put simply; I will be efficient, transparent and understanding throughout. I promise to allocate STAR's funds to maximise what the society can do in the upcoming year.
