Hey! I am currently a second-year student. I would love to be part of the committee for SEAD to help grow the society. As welfare officer, I would like to create a friendly community, providing a support network for members of the society.

I would endeavour to prioritise mental health support for people on the course, something which would be indispensable considering its demanding nature. I feel that previously a platform and circumstances for meeting people in the same position has been lacking and therefore my vision for SEAD is to be somewhere where people from all year groups can connect. This space would provide somewhere for people to discuss their passion for innovation and creativity and come together to learn as well as support each other through university and following this, in their career.

I would work closely with the other committee members to ensure all events put on by the society are welcoming and inclusive. My aim would be for everyone who would like to explore their passion for the built environment outside of university teaching, to feel as though SEAD is the ideal place to do so. I would like to make sure all events are open to people regardless of background, whether they are studying engineering and architectural design or otherwise wanting to be involved in the society.

Thank you so much for considering me, please get in touch with any questions.

I would like to be the welfare officer for the SEAD society because ever since being a student in the MEng, I noticed that the welfare of students can sometimes be neglected especially at times closer to tight deadlines.
Therefore, if I am elected as the welfare officer of the SEAD society, I can utilise the platform this society has to improve the wellbeing of students. A few ideas I have in mind include virtual mental health check in and an MEng grouping system consisting of year 1s and older years.
I also believe I am capable of this role because of the various leadership roles (directing student led projects, the role of a prefect etc.) I have successfully taken back in school. I personally believe that communication is a very important skill needed for this role and I have honed this skill through the various group projects and sports team I have continuously taken part in.
With the ideas and skills I have, I believe I am well suited for this role.
