Sign Language Society: Treasurer

Hi guys! I'm Shirley and I'm currently studying Biomedical Sciences :)  Being an active member of the sign language society has not only allowed me to learn basic BSL but also to make many close friends. I would like to give back to this incredible society by doing what I can. 

Working alongside the rest of the society, I hope to manage the budget in a sensible way so that we can promote the society in the best way possible and hold events that are fun and welcoming to everyone. I would describe myself as someone who is organised and pays attention to details, which I believe are the key characteristics required for a treasurer. For example, I have held several 'group orders' in the past, where I first take the payment collectively and then ship the products to individuals. This has made me become more sensitive to numbers and also allowed me to be comfortable using tools such as excel, which would be beneficial for both planning and keeping track of the society expense. 

Nonetheless, it will be my first time being a treasurer and there sure will be many challenges. But I am ready to dedicate myself to this role with my passion for sign language and I am certain that it will be a great opportunity for me to improve too. After all, it is the small things that matter the most and I am more than willing to offer what I can.
