Alge Bakutyte

Hey! I am Alge and I am going into my 4th year of studying neuroscience here at UCL. Back in high school I did not receive any proper sexual health education (except the time our school’s priest told us to never ever have sex) and realised the consequences of this only recently in my life. Thus, throughout the years I got motivated to get involved in a few organisations that deliver comprehensive and inclusive RSHE back in my hometown and London, including Sexpression. By going to schools this year I recognised the importance of the work Sexpression volunteers provide as, I believe, listening to young people helps children to relate, engage and comprehend the delivered crucial information better. Besides, I am aiming to address the significance and current misconceptions of RSHE back in my hometown by working with an NGO where I write educational articles regarding sexual health and perception of genders.

These past experiences have deepened my passion to foster understanding of young individuals of relationships, sex, and sexuality in the 21st century. Therefore, extensive RSHE should be a part of every child’s development and I am hoping that next year I will be able to continue my work with Sexpression, but this time as a part of the committee.

Ambika Bahia

I would like to be treasurer for Sexpression as I’ve been really involved with the society during my first year at uni because I’m very passionate about sex education! I believe that my passion will allow me to receive funding for the society as I will be able to stress the importance of teaching sex education to young people. I am a very organised and hardworking individual and so I would be great at managing finances.

Deena Seennapen

The role of treasurer provides great potential to expand the reach of the society through managing and sourcing funding to organise bigger and better events in the new year. I believe I have the range of experience and skills to be an effective treasurer, ensuring consistent and accurate administration and management of expenses and funding for the society. I am ready to learn new skills to ensure timely management of finances and be a point of call for all committee members regarding the funding of the society.
