Elizabeth Mauro

I would like to nominate myself for This Girl Can officer to introduce others to London’s wonderful running routes, foster community and friendship, and pass on my love for the sport. I believe I am qualified for this position because of my extensive running experience, knowledge of the city, and past endeavours.

First, I am a seasoned runner, having competed in cross-country, track, and road racing since 6th grade. With versatile race experience ranging from 800m to the half, I will easily be able to adapt to others’ preferred distances and paces.

Thanks to my regular attendance of RAX’s runs and meets, and half-marathon training this spring, I have run in London on a near-daily basis this year. As such, I am familiar with most neighbourhoods and parks - including Regent’s, Hyde, Richmond, Battersea, Mile End and the Heath. I would thus be competent to organise and lead runs to various destinations.

Finally, I have considerable experience providing leadership and advice to other runners. In high school, I gave my teammates pre-race pep talks and helped them train during the season, organising weekend runs both to build team camaraderie and complement our coaches' workouts. I would thus like to take on a similar role as This Girl Can Officer, encouraging girls of all skill levels and hopefully inspiring a love for running in them.

Running is undoubtedly my greatest passion and has changed my life for the better; I would truly be honoured to pass on my love for the sport.

Anna Sabaté Tormos

My name is Anna, and I'm a 1st year Applied Medical Sciences student. I could ramble on about what skills or qualifications would make me a good leader, but why waste your time with a resume?

From day one, I understood what this society is about: it's not just a bunch of people running around; we are dedicated to physical and mental self-improvement, all while having a good time. I promise to translate these values to the community. As This Girl Can officer, I will organize more than the ordinary runs; we will have regular and accessible opportunities; we will engage in social activism and stand for causes important to us as empowered women; we will teach the skill and value of sport to our community.

A vote for me means you too believe that RAX is more than any other society; a vote for me means you believe in sisterhood, in self-improvement and in helping others.
