Vanessa Tsao

Hi everyone! I'm Vanessa, your Editor-in-Chief of Pi Magazine for the past two academic years. I hope to make Pi more diverse and inclusive, not only in its body of members, but also in its work! During my time serving Pi Magazine as EIC, I've tried to incorporate D&I ethos into the magazine, by requiring all magazine pitches to think of reflecting the diversity of voices at UCL and interviewing more people. D&I is a personal passion of mine so I look forward to putting forward more initiatives!

As Diversity and Inclusion officer, I aim to develop a D&I strategy with every branch of Pi, from Pi Online to Pi Magazine to Pi TV. This will be a set of guidelines and values we can agree on to make Pi more inclusive! I hope that this will help Pi stand out from other societies and encourage more members to join us. Moreover, I hope to work with the events officer to host events surrounding diversity in journalism, such as speaker events, as well as collaborating with the welfare officer to host socials which ensure individuals from underrepresented backgrounds feel welcome at Pi! I look forward to building an even more lovely and inclusive community at Pi in the upcoming year!
