Hi! I'm Mathilde and I'm in my last year of the MSci Pharmacology degree. Last year I helped co-found the society with some people from the Pharmacology course, and we managed to organise a few very nice events, such as inviting UCL pharmacology alumni to talk about job opportunities, scientific writing workshops and presentations about a variety of topics in pharmacology and neuroscience. For next year, we would love to continue with these events and also create better mentee-mentor connections to offer help and advice to students (students from all degrees are welcome!). More generally, we want to make this society a safe, comfortable and fun environment for students who are interested in pharmacology, so if this sounds interesting to you, vote for me :)
I, Rusne Sipelyte, would like to be the Vice-President of the UCL Pharmacology Society. Having been the Vice-President for the society last year, I assisted in organising events and presentations, was responsible for the efficiency of the mentee-mentor connection programme. Therefore, I understand the importance of encouraging communication between students as well as presenting scientific material in a clear way for students. For these reasons I believe that I am a good fit for the role.
The reason why I’m applying for this position is that I believe I’m competent to take this role and I really love the society and want to grow with it. I’ve been very interested in pharmacology and the therapeutic potential of the cellular mechanisms we learned in developing drugs. Last year, being a member in pharmacology society, I’ve experienced a huge variety of events which not only deepen my understanding in this area but also turn out to be beneficial to my future study. I’m really grateful to be a member of this society and want to contribute more by nominating myself as the Vice President. I’ve been the Head of the Journal Club of the Genetics society and had experience in organising events and helping run a society. I’m open and supportive that I’d like to introduce interesting as well as useful sessions such as revision workshops and quiz night which are 100% member-orientated.
Hi! This next uni year I’ll be a second year BSc Pharmacology student and thus wanted to be a part of the Pharmacology society commitee.
Even though the first year of my experience in the society milieu was hindered by the pandemic, I very much enjoyed and attended many of the events presented to us as members. As well as that, I was one of the active first year Pharmacology students, so I contributed by spreading the word about the Pharmacology society to attract new members. I believe there is a lot of potential to make the society even bigger if information about useful resources and events would be promoted to younger students, which have a lot of time to join and be a part of this club. Also as a second year student, I would be able to spend more time on the commitee and help out with the things that are relevant to make the society flourish even more!
I am nominating myself for the vice president position in the pharmacology society because I want to contribute to its growth and maintenance. As someone with a great interest in pharmaceutical research, I want to help new pharmacology students succeed and make crucial connections with their peers.
