Election post
Hello, I'm Karthig Thillaivasan and I'd like to take this opportunity to run for the Neurology Chair for UCL Medical Society. Having organised many large-scale events in various subcommittees of Medical Society, including the UCL National Paediatric Conference, I have developed an interest and motivation in various fields of medicine and most importantly got to grips with the responsibilities required to lead events. As the Neurology Chair, I would have the opportunity to spread enthusiasm in this field and enable you to build a network with world-renowned neurologists through the organisation of stimulating events, discussing current issues and future neurological advances. I have attended many intriguing Neurosurgery events in UCL Surgical Society, such as the Encephalon lecture series and the UCL Inaugural International Neurology and Neurosurgery Conference, which enabled me to build a network with renowned neurologists and NANSIG. Through my experience, I intend to lead events and create an interactive atmosphere for students to explore neurological research in greater depth through a mentoring scheme and journal club. Finally, I would be very keen to fundraise for charities that support patients with neurodegenerative disorders and those in low-income countries. It would be a privilege to be a part of this society and I would be very grateful for your vote and I ensure to be a dedicated Neurology Lead, working hard to spread the enthusiasm through intriguing events.
