Participating in this year's UNICEF society fundraising bake sale has been an event that made me realize my enthusiasm for engaging in charity events and helping others, no matter how big or small my contribution can be. I am passionate and determined to strengthen the relationship between UCL and UNICEF, raise awareness and collectively build a university community where students can actively aid children in need through creative fundraising events. The role of fundraising officer of the UNICEF society, I believe, requires effective organizational and teamwork skills, creativity and enthusiasm. My previous volunteering experiences in tutoring children, leading my secondary school on projects such as promoting minority rights, and my current volunteer work at Oxfam, have all helped me develop these skills as well as my keenness on giving back to the community. Being fundraising officer of the society would be an amazing opportunity to work with my peers as a team to brainstorm and promote creative, sustainable ways to raise money and help children in need. Some ideas I have include walk-a-thons, bring-and-buy sales and craft fairs. Having always been inspired by UNICEF's work, I believe that my positivity, enthusiasm and commitment to creating a difference in children's lives will develop the UNICEF society and enhance awareness within our community.
