Giving Voice Society: Events Officer

Hi there :) 

I'm currently coming to the end of my first year on the MSc Speech and Language Sciences course and one of the aspects I've loved about this year has been the brilliant and varied events put on by the Giving Voice Society. 

From pub quizzes to expert talks to pot luck lunches there have been lots of opportunities to meet the second year MSc students and other members of the society, which is great because we don't usually get the chance to chat or mix during lectures. 

I'd love to bring the Speech student community together next year by organising similar varied events which give students the opportunity to find out more about what we learn on a day to day basis but also to expand their horizons to hear from experts in the field and previous students too! Some of my favourite events have been those which combine food, drink and quizzes, so I'd love to put on more of those type of events too. 

I've got previous work experience organising charity events such as a Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser and a live cooking show with a celebrity guest, so I'd love to bring some of these skills to the Society too!!
