Hello,
My name is Julia Kadas, and I am running for Treasurer of the Francophone society. I am standing for this position, because I believe I will be able to meaningfully contribute to the society, as a French speaker, a law student, and a kind and collaborative person.
Being a Law student equips me with the analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities necessary to handle financial matters effectively. As Treasurer, my capacity to understand and interpret financial data will ensure accurate record-keeping, responsible budgeting, and sound decision-making. Law school demands discipline, perseverance, and a strong work ethic, all of which are transferable qualities that will help me in the role of Treasurer. My determination to excel in academic pursuits will help me in my responsibilities as the custodian of the society's finances, as I will meticulously manage the funds entrusted to my care.
I am a team player and value collaboration, which makes me a good candidate for supporting the committee's plans and values. Having gone to a French speaking high school, where I was the Prefect of Francophonie and Cultural Animation for two years - I feel equipped to help the society. I hope to support the plans of the committee through sound financial planning and budgeting - to make all francophone speakers feel welcome and supported within the society!
Having been part of the Francophone Society as a French teacher this year, I wish to become more involved in order to continue the hard work of the current committee to bring UCL's French community together and to ensure the dissemination of values of intercultural fraternity, and I am convinced that occupying the position of treasurer is the most effective mean to ensure this goal.
If appointed Treasurer, my priorities will be:
- Building and utilising the society funding to deliver fulfilling and high-quality activities so that you will get your membership's worth.
- Managing the society’s finances and ensuring their vitality.
- Working extensively with the President and Committee members to create a welcoming environment which provides an inclusive experience for all.
Thanks to previous internships and extra-curricular activities, I believe I have developed a strong set of abilities necessary for this role: I own solid administrative and communication skills, and doing ballet at National level developed my meticulousness. Furthermore, pursuing a short course in Politics, Economics and Ethics at the University of Oxford familiarised me with economic management.
Wishing to push the society in the right direction and continue the amazing work realised by the current committee, I would be very eager to take on the role of Treasurer. I look forward to bringing my passion and expertise to this exciting role!
