Election post
Hoi allemaal! / Hi everyone!
Being a co-founder and the first Head (2021-2) of the Dutch and Flemish Society, I resolved major bureaucratic issues of the Society’s first year and prepared it to become a prosperous Association for every UCL student holding a bold interest in the Low Countries. In 2022 we managed to co-organize awesome activities with Dutch and Flemish Societies from other universities and secured partnerships. In that year, I was honored to serve Mrs. Selma Van De Perre - a 100-year-old Dutch Holocaust Survivor residing in London - wherefor I received an Award of 2022 from the Dutch Embassy. This whole year I spent in Flanders and North Holland where, as a foreigner, I enlarged my outlook on the Flemish and Dutch lifestyle, culture and approaches. I am eager to share these experiences with the Society and contribute to its development.
Once elected as a Treasurer, I will:
— work closely with the President and the Committee to ensure smooth financial operations,
— regulate and manage Society’s finances,
— negotiate better deals for Society’s events to save cash £££ for future events,
— publish the Society’s financial statement monthly so that you can monitor our incomes and expenses, and
— attract third-party funding from Dutch and Flemish establishments in the UK.
I believe that the above experiences and aims are speaking for themselves and hope for your trust and support!
Met vriendelijke groet / With kindest regards
Alexander
