Hi everyone! I’m Jenna, a final year Psychology student continuing my studies at UCL in MSc Human-Computer Interaction. Over the past year, I have participated in events ran by DataVis Soc and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe that data visualisation is one of the most essential skills that students should have. As a relatively new society, brand awareness is one of the biggest bottlenecks that DataVis Soc faces. I will strive to organise events of different levels to make data visualisation accessible to all, regardless of coding level.

 

As the Events Officer, I will aim to:

  1. Organise tasters events during freshers week to increase our society’s awareness
  2. Introduce a series of careers events, invite alumni to share their work experience in the field and tips on how to kickstart a career in data visualisation
  3. Organise beginners friendly, no/low code data visualisation workshops
  4. Collaborate with societies such as DataSci Soc / Tech Soc / departmental societies to host a data hackathon
