Don't vote for me if there's a good candidate running please! I'm quite happy being Publications Officer but have had quite a good time with Asiatic Affairs so far and don't want to see the society be shut down. Cheers
To the Asiatic Affairs Community,
I have been a long-standing enabler of this society and I certainly do feel a profound sense of achievement to have worked as many hours as I have to develop the practices, community, and understanding of asian politics and cultural perspectives. There is always an objective for me to chase in this society and I would be deeply obliged to be given the opportunity to continue this passion of mine.
Seeing the eclectic minds of our members thrive week in and week out has allowed me to build institutions around this culture. Furthermore, working alongside our publications officer has meant our website has an all time high number of student-produced articles and it is with great desire that I intend on expanding this further by connecting our articles to think tanks and organisations alike.
The role of President deserves a lot of attention and requires immense responsibility, but I strongly believe in my capabilities. With the year of experience I have as Treasurer for this society I am well versed in maximising our budget to continue the supply of enticing events and perks, such as extending discounts from Asian shops, and having developed strong interpersonal connections with our current members and the Student Union I will continue to make strong headway to further our funding to invest in our upcoming Transitions of Power Journal.
Thank you for your time and hope to continue to provide more for you as a dedicated President.
Jet Wang
Hi everyone!
I am Joel, a first year Politics, Philosophy and Economics student with a keen interest in the geopolitical affairs of Asia. With the invariable geopolitical shifts that accompany the Russian-Ukrainian war, Asia makes for an especially exciting region to write and analyze about now, and is a journey I wish very much to be a part of.
If elected, I promise to effectually restart the Asiatic Affairs podcast series and streamline processes to involve more members and produce more content. The splitting of the podcast series into 2 tracks - a more analytic and geopolitical focussed track, coupled with a lighter, more entertaining series should provide more members the chance to hop on the mic and air their views on the ins and outs of Asia! Should you have any queries about my post-election plans, feel free to drop me an email @[email protected] and we can talk more about it then!
I earnestly hope that you'll vote for me, and I look forward to working more with all of you over the next academic year!
