Hi! I am Wynsey, a Politics and International Relations undergraduate from Singapore running for the role of treasurer :)
I am a firm believer that youths can drive social change and contribute to global human rights movements. In the past year, I explored the human rights activism scene through various capacities. As an avid volunteer at the Refugee Community Kitchen, I have learnt so much from personal interactions with passionate volunteers and the refugees we serve. I then took part in the UNITE2030 program as a youth delegate, building connections and capacity to advocate for the defence of refugees and migrant rights. I have also worked extensively with STAR societies across the UK to create campaign videos and draft youth statements to local MPs.
In my first year, I initiated a film screening fundraiser and mobilised the funds raised to purchase Christmas gifts for children living in refugee facilities in South London. Packing 160 gift bags by hand and personally selecting each gift item made me realise just how much we can do as individuals to contribute towards causes we are passionate in.
As treasurer, I will have the responsibility of managing our finances and liaising with the Student Union. My prior experience in fundraising and managing the logistics of advocacy events sets me in good stead. With new initiatives and bigger events we have in store, I give you my commitment to mobilising our resources to generate the greatest social impact!
