Samuel Ruiz Flanagan

I have been part of Amnesty International for the last year, and have seen the various interesting and positive campaigns the society has put together. I am running for the position of 'Treasurer' because I want to play a part in the organization of these events and continue the great work of Amnesty UCL.

Previously, I have been involved with a number of student run societies in which I played a central role in the planification of events and campaigns. For instance, I was the treasurer of the student charity Rhi-zone, which aimed to empower local women in Dilijan, Armenia by taking their skills, such as sewing, and using them to provide them with a source of income independent from the males in their families through the sale of homemade products. As the treasurer, I was in charge of managing the clubs project's finances, which included setting a general budget with the president, participating in the planification of fundraisers and social events, and generally tracking income and expenses. In my second year, due to coronavirus the sales were stopped, but we continued to support the women through fundraisers and awareness events we run from within the school, which I was involved in planning.
