Avi Lau

I really enjoy being part of creative performance spaces, and I want to help more people feel encouraged to get involved in them. My past experiences include being on the Writers Society UniSlam team this year, as well as a performer at the Writers Society x Drama Society New Writers Festival 2025. Apart from the Writers' Society, I've also had experiences performing at a Live Music Society show, and supporting a Drama Society production. Even though my roles have often been smaller ones, those experiences have shown me how valuable collaborative creative spaces are and how much work goes into making them successful.

Beyond UCL, I’ve had experiences performing as a singer-guitarist with different bands, including at events organised by other universities. Through these experiences, I’ve gained valuable experience in live performance and collaboration, skills I believe I can bring to the role of the Chair of Performing Arts. I’ll work to continue the strong legacy of Writers’ Society by supporting the smooth running of events such as Open Mic nights, UniSlam auditions, and training sessions. I’m excited to learn more and help make performing arts within the Writers' Society accessible and fun for both experienced writers and newcomers!
