Hello! I am Gabriel or Gael (either name works) and I'm excited to run for Welfare Officer!

Why am I running for this position? As an active member within the SRI community, I truly understand how overwhelming it can be to find our support group in uni and maintain motivation throughout the year. I am applying for this position because I want the SRI Society to be a place for students to feel seen and find comfort. I want this society to continue to grow and be a safe and inclusive place for everyone to meet new friends and relax, and I'd want to be a friendly face for anyone who needs it.

Why vote me? As a student in Social Science, I believe that I understand the importance of well-being, and as such I will do all that I can to ensure safety and positivity within the community. I am a team player and a leader, as I have organized academic-centered events in high school, which assures you that I will be active in improving our events to be as inclusive as possible. Other than that, I'd say I'm a very approachable person, and debate club has taught me how to yap about any topic you want!

What are my plans? If I get this position, I would like to have the social media page be an easy way to get in contact for any issues and concerns you may have. I would also be present in events and constantly take feedback from members to make our sessions the best they can be. I'd also like to work on welcoming new members and keeping the club approachable and friendly to all.
