After joining BSL society this year, I was moved by how this was so much more than learning a new language but also building a community. I was privileged to meet so many new people through an entirely new method of communication and realised what a privilege it is to be able to connect. As welfare officer, I aim to strengthen our community and be a proud pillar of this society by making sure everyone feels included, being there for people to confide and trust in and most importantly being a friend to all.
