Election post
As a first year, I have now been at the School of Pharmacy for a year and let me tell you, it has been A LOT. Being an active part of the society, including helping plan the February Ball, has shown me how much work goes on behind every event. I quickly realised that ideas can be great and people can be willing, but without the finances to back them, they can only go so far.
That is exactly why I am running for Treasurer. I want to help make sure our resources are managed properly so our society can continue creating great events and opportunities for everyone.
Now, I know finances are not exactly everyone’s favourite thing to talk about, but I was the bank in every Monopoly game. On a more serious note, helping my dad with pharmacy invoices means I might know a thing or two about dealing with numbers. Alongside my roles as Media Lead and Chair of Student Council, I have developed the organisation, teamwork and attention to detail needed for this role.
I also played a major role in securing sponsorship from L'Oréal for the SoP February Ball, helping bring in support that contributed towards making the event possible. That experience showed me the importance of building strong relationships and making the most of opportunities that benefit students.
Uni is about more than lectures and placements, it is about finding your people and making the most of every opportunity. I want to help make sure our society stays supportive, ambitious and accessible to everyone.
