Election post
I am standing for Economist Society Director of Socials because I genuinely enjoy bringing people together and creating events that people actually want to attend. For me, socials are not just about nights out; they are what shape the culture of a society. They help people make friends, feel included, and build networks across different year groups.
Having already been involved in the society, I have seen what makes events work well: clear planning, strong promotion, and making sure events feel welcoming rather than forced. If elected, I would focus on organising socials that are well-planned, varied, and genuinely enjoyable, from bigger flagship events to more relaxed events like mixers, pub quizzes, coffee chats, and collaborations with other societies.
I want the society to feel more active and connected throughout the year, not just during major events. My aim would be to create a social calendar that gives members something to look forward to, while making sure events are inclusive and accessible to different types of people.
Ultimately, I am standing because I care about the experience students have in the society. I want members to feel that joining the Economist Society is worth it socially as well as professionally, and I would bring the energy, organisation, and consistency needed to make that happen.
