I’m standing because I think our academic events should reflect the full scope of economics, not just its most visible career pathways. While the society already does well in hosting finance-focused speakers and some policy voices, there’s clear room to broaden the conversation.

Economics shapes everything from climate change to media, inequality to behavioural decision-making, yet these areas are often underrepresented in academic events. I want to bring in a wider range of perspectives: development economists, behavioural scientists, journalists, and interdisciplinary speakers who show how economics operates beyond traditional finance roles.

Through my experience in [your experience], I’ve developed the ability to organise engaging events and communicate complex ideas in an accessible way. More importantly, I’m interested in creating discussions, not just lectures—events where different viewpoints can challenge each other.

As Director of Academic Events, I’d focus on building a more varied and intellectually diverse programme that complements existing strengths while expanding what students see economics as.
