I am applying for Zine Co-Editor because I enjoy student writing with personality. A good zine should feel funny and genuinely student-led. It should give writers room to try things out and create something people want to read. I would bring strong editorial experience to the role. As former Editor-in-Chief of Quelle (Winchester College), I worked with writers from the first idea through to the final version. I commissioned pieces and managed submissions, while also editing for structure and tone. I know how to improve someone’s work without making it sound like it was written by someone else. I have already worked with Cheese Grater Magazine through production support for a live sketch show. I helped with promotion, which gave me a feel for the magazine’s humour and the kind of creative environment it fosters! My experience fits well with zine production. I have written for Pi Media and The Anthropolitan. I have also created digital content for PeerScroller and worked as Communications Lead for Anthroshow 2026. I have also been selected as a student writer for UCL200: 26 Writers, 26 UCL Firsts, which demonstrates my commitment to and love of writing. My Art and Design Distinction also gives me useful experience with layout and visual communication. As Zine Co-Editor, I would be organised and approachable. I would work closely with contributors, give useful feedback and help produce issues that feel vibrant and worth reading!

I’m running for Co Editor of Cheese Grater because I care about student journalism that is sharp, creative, and genuinely willing to say something. I’ve always been drawn to spaces that combine humour with commentary on real issues, and I think satire can be one of the most effective ways to engage students with topics that actually affect them.

Through my experience in journalism, political research, and student leadership, I’ve developed strong writing, editorial, and communication skills, alongside an interest in investigative and socially relevant storytelling. I also value collaboration and want Cheese Grater to continue being a space where contributors feel encouraged to experiment creatively while producing work that is thoughtful, funny, and impactful.

As Co Editor, I would want to help expand the magazine’s reach across campus, encourage more student voices and contributors, and continue producing content that is both entertaining and genuinely reflective of student culture and issues at UCL.
