I am running for this role because participating in ASN events last year helped me feel much more comfortable and settled into university life, and I would love for future students to feel the same sense of belonging and support.

Although I am Singaporean, I studied in China for many years, which allowed me to experience the diversity within different Asian cultures and perspectives. Studying in the UK has further broadened my understanding of how people feel in new environments, and these experiences have made me strongly value inclusivity and intercultural connection.

I am especially interested in the Welfare Officer role because I understand how overwhelming entering a new environment can be. I want to help create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where everyone feels included regardless of their background. I am friendly and outgoing, but also empathetic and attentive to whether people may feel left out or uncomfortable. My volunteering experiences at old folks’ homes and supporting homeschooled children with serious illnesses have also strengthened my communication and interpersonal skills, allowing me to build connections and create spaces where people feel safe and heard.

I would also love to contribute to planning fun socials and outings, such as winter skating or Tulley's Farm Halloween trips, while continuing regular picnic socials so students can bond and enjoy London together. Overall, I want ASN to be a welcoming community where everyone feels they belong.
