Over the course of my degree, I have increasingly learnt the importance of feeling connected, supported, and heard within your community. University can be both exciting and overwhelming, and I believe that creating a safe and welcoming environment where people feel comfortable being themselves is one of the most important parts of any society.
As Welfare Officer, I would strive to make every member of the Anthropology Society feel seen, included, and valued. I want to help foster a supportive atmosphere where people feel able to reach out, build friendships, and engage with the society regardless of their background or year group.
Throughout my time at university and during my study abroad year, I have met people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, which has taught me the importance of empathy, communication, and community. I would aim to organise initiatives and welfare-focused events that encourage connection and openness, while also helping create spaces where people can relax, socialise, and feel supported academically and personally. I would love the opportunity to help make the Anthropology Society a community where everyone feels they belong.
