Hi! I’m Michelle, and I’m excited to run for OMFS Chair.

OMFS remains an overlooked specialty, often lacking clear visibility or understanding - which can make it feel less approachable to students. I want to change that by making it more accessible, engaging, and relevant. Having been the subcommittee’s Publicity Lead this year, I’d love to build on the great work that’s already been done.

As Programme Coordinator in WiNs, I’ve helped deliver national and international speaker events and run hands-on workshops, which has taught me how to manage large-scale events and coordinate with clinicians. As a Skin For All ambassador, I’ve been involved in national initiatives focused on clinical inequality, research, and development of educational resources - giving me experience in organising accessible, impactful student-led initiatives.

I’m also currently the National representative (JTG of BAOMS), which I hope to leverage to connect with other universities and open up even more opportunities for students.

If elected as Chair, I plan to implement the following:

  1. Career talks & myth-busting events
Continue and expand this year’s Instagram initiative, inviting OMFS trainees and consultants to talk about their journeys and different pathways into the specialty.
  2. Journal club
Highlight the latest research and developments in OMFS, helping engage with the unique problems and research in the field.
  3. Shadowing scheme
Work with the UCLH Head & Neck Centre to give students practical exposure to OMFS.
