I’m running for RUMS Sports Officer because I’m passionate about keeping sport and staying active accessible, enjoyable, and well-supported for all medics. Being part of RUMSBC has genuinely been one of the best parts of my first year - I’ve loved getting back on the water and want to help others find the same energy and community in their clubs.
As Events Officer for the Surgical Society, I’ve helped run events at the Royal College of Surgeons and pioneered the Scrubs Run Fundraiser for GOSH, gaining hands-on experience in pulling off big, successful events. I’d bring that same organisation and creativity to Sports Ball, making it another night to remember (or not 😉).
I’m also someone who gets things done - having managed leavers' merch in sixth form, I know how to handle orders, deadlines, and group chats filled with last-minute fleece requests. Stash will be sorted smoothly and on time!
Most of all, I’m keen to get more involved in the RUMS community and help shape what medic life looks like outside of lectures. I’ll be a reliable, supportive voice for all teams and work closely with the VP for Sports & Societies to make sure every sport feels heard and celebrated.
Here’s to another year of RUMS sport success… 💙💛

Looking back on my first year, I’ve reached milestones I never imagined I would. From navigating the demands of a medical degree to stepping into completely new environments, this year has been a journey of growth, resilience, and discovery. One of the most unexpected yet rewarding experiences has been joining a RUMS sport. It’s unlike anything I’ve done before—and it’s given me more than just fitness or routine; it’s given me a sense of belonging and lifelong friendships.
At times, balancing medicine with extracurriculars can feel overwhelming. But being part of a sports team has truly helped lighten that load. It’s reminded me of the importance of physical and mental wellbeing, teamwork, and carving out space for joy amidst the pressures of our course. It’s this impact that inspires me to apply for RUMS Sports Officer for 2025–26. I want to give back to the community that has supported me. I believe RUMS sport should be inclusive, accessible, and filled with joy —whether they’ve played since childhood or have never picked up a racket, ball, or oar.
My Plan of Action:
-> Increased Accessibility Year- Round (more taster sessions)
-> Introduce New RUMS Sports (e.g. RUMS Athletics)
-> Make Socials More Accessible and Varied (not everyone enjoys the same night out)
