Suthar Vijayan

Hi, my name is Sutharrsana Vijayan (Suthar for short), and I would like to run for editor-in-chief for the pharmacology newsletter because it facilitates my deep interest in pharmacological research. As someone moving into the 2nd year of the pharmacology course, there is increasing prevalence in picking modules that pique our curiosity, with 3rd and 4th years having a greater selection of modules to pick from. However, being spoilt for choice in the upcoming years also leads with a concern; how can we tailor the course to our interests if we don't have a clear idea on what fields in pharmacology steal our attention? One person could initially be interested in one field of pharmacology, but after studying a module or field that you surprisingly enjoy your initial interests can be split with new points of intrigue which can make picking the modules you want arduous. I want to explain up-to-date research from pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions in an informative, concise format that can help newly joining and older year students ascertain what topics catch their eyes. This can help students find their niche and push them to figure out how they can make the course their own in addition to suggesting topic areas that students like and can engage in which can help in picking modules and selecting summer internships & research projects in 3rd and 4th year. I also want to suggest internships, webinars, virtual work experience, etc. in the publications to further this.
