Hi! I’m Catharina, a first-year Biomedical Engineering student, and I hope to be your next Technology Officer.

Having grown up in seven countries, I’ve seen firsthand how access to healthcare varies dramatically. From high-tech hospitals to under-resourced clinics, I’ve realised how crucial medtech can be in bridging those gaps. My experiences have sparked a vision I would like to share with the MedTech Society: to harness medtech not only for profit or prestige, but to serve real-world needs, especially those overlooked by traditional systems. For this reason, I want to bring a theme of healthcare equity through innovation to next year’s Technology in Healthcare conference.

As First-Year Rep for the UCL Engineering Society, I helped organise the London 2050 conference, focusing on how AI is shaping the future. Furthermore, I help plan and host countless company-sponsored events, which have given me the social and organisational skills required to pull off large-scale events with influential speakers; skills which I believe are crucial for this role.

Being selected as a Laidlaw Research and Leadership Scholar, I have received significant training on how to lead a team towards a common goal. Therefore, you can count on me to take initiative and provide the time and effort to make next year's conference one that doesn’t just inform, but inspires a future of equitable healthcare innovation.

I’d be honoured to be your Technology Officer with the passion and dedication it deserves!
