Oscar Chen

Hi everyone, I hope your exams are going well! I'm Oscar, a current first-year medic, and I am running as your next Publicity Officer! As the current First-Year Representative for the Pathology subcommittee, I have a strong insight into how MedSoc tutorials, events and socials are run, and I am eager to promote these further through the role as Publicity Officer.

If nominated, I will:

Promote MedSoc through Social Media:

  • My proficiency in Canva, developed through designing tutoring adverts and menus for businesses, will be a crucial skill for creating engaging Instagram stories, posts and reels, and my experience in art will come in handy when designing eye-catching advertisements for ticket sales, tutorials and memberships.

Network and Welcome Members

  • I hope to invite members into MedSoc by promoting the society at Welcome Fair. I will also communicate with publicity officers and committee members in RUMS, SurgSoc and AnatomySoc, as well as our MedSoc subdivisions, to facilitate collaboration and networking at future joint events.

Keep You In The Loop

  • By managing MedSoc social media accounts and ensuring news of all events and tutorials is spread, I will keep all medics informed, connected and excited to participate in everything MedSoc has to offer.

As your Publicity Officer, I will use my creative background and experience in MedSoc to ensure our society is accessible, visible and aesthetic (💀) for all medics. I hope I can count on your vote, and best of luck for your exams!

Bikiran Behera

Hi everyone! I’m Bikiran, I’m currently doing an iBSc in Paediatrics and Child Health and I’d love the opportunity to contribute as your Publicity Officer next year.

I genuinely love creative work, and I believe I bring both passion and experience that will take MedSoc’s publicity to the next level. I’ve previously designed posters and worked on social media content for St John Ambulance, which has helped me develop the skills on communicating important messages in a clear, engaging way. Being part of the RUMS Events Subcommittee also gave me a real appreciation for what it takes to plan, promote and run successful events behind the scenes.

I’d love to:

  1. Run individual specialty-themed weeks on social media with posts, quizzes and interviews about each medical speciality.
  2. Boost fundraising campaigns to spotlight great causes and get more people involved.
  3. Team up with other MedSoc subcommittees and other societies to promote joint events and create exciting new opportunities across the wider med school community.
  4. Make MedSoc’s social media more engaging and consistent, with regular stories and interactive posts - so members never miss out on what’s happening.

Thank you so much for your time! I’m excited to be part of MedSoc and would love the chance to bring energy and creativity as your next Publicity Officer.
