Election post
Hi! I’m Arun, and I'd love to be your Oncology Chair! I've always had a passion for oncology, which was deepened by my iBSc last year. If elected, I'll grow our society by inviting diverse professionals for talks and workshops, bridging the student-clinician gap for better insight, mentorship, and academic growth.
My aims as Oncology Chair:
Expand NUOC: Build on its success this year with virtual access and diverse activities - OSCE/MDT workshops, career Q&As, and sessions on new surgical oncology devices.
Revive ‘Cancer of the Month’ Talks: Educate on the presentation and management of both common and rare cancers.
Introduce a ‘Cancer By Case’ Series: Discuss real patient cases with expert clinicians for practical learning.
Enhance the Mentorship Scheme: Pair students with leading oncologists for robust research, portfolio, and career development support.
Continue Maggie’s Fundraising: Maintain our strong support for their vital work with cancer patients and their families.
As Outreach Officer this year, I’ve organised and hosted talks, building strong relationships with cancer experts. I also helped to coordinate this year’s NUOC, gaining vital communication and collaboration skills I’ll use for next year’s conference. I'm hardworking, passionate, and dedicated to expanding this society and supporting students interested in oncology!
