Hi, I’m Hijab, and I’m running to be your Acute Care Chair as part of UCL Medical Society.
After taking the Anaesthesia module this year and gaining significant clinical exposure in acute settings, I’ve developed a strong passion for this field that demand clinical excellence, critical thinking, and teamwork.
My goals as Chair:
- Organise an Acute & Emergency Medicine Conference featuring engaging speakers such as trauma consultants and anaesthetists. The event will include practical workshops like interpreting ABGs and airway management — topics rarely practiced in pre-clinical teaching.
- Collaborate with other university Anaesthesia and Acute Medicine societies to provide networking opportunities
- Run talks and panels covering a range of topics such as life as a Foundation doctor on call
- Create a strong sense of community through relaxed socials, Q&A panels, and revision events that bring together students with shared interests.
- Promote research and audit opportunities, helping students gain valuable information and experience for their portfolios.
- I’ll ensure every committee member has clear roles, feels involved, and has the opportunity to shape events.
Whether you're pursuing a career in anaesthesia or simply want to gain a deeper understanding of the field, vote for me and I’ll work hard to make this a year full of valuable, exciting opportunities.
