Throughout this year, I’ve participated in many projects that IDS has done. I’m running for Marketing Officer so I can use my creative and editing skills to stay involved in this society and keep dancing. 

For the winter showcase, I helped choreograph one of the performances. I mixed the audio myself and learnt how to mix specifically for Indian dance performances. I think I’ll be able to further develop and use this skill as Marketing Officer to mix audios. I’ve developed my creative skills in personal content projects, like Instagram reels and TikToks. These social media videos have taught me how to use IMovie and Premiere Pro. I think this skill will translate well into editing weekly dance class reels and making promotional material for JB. I enjoyed the collaborative workshops that IDS held. I’m excited to work with the Social Media Officer on future collaborative workshops. Last Diwali, I helped organise an event at my hall for which I created Canva posters and worked to create an event with variety. We had food, mehendi, decoration and dance. I think this experience will be serve me as Marketing Officer.

I have always enjoyed dancing and have attended many Indian dance classes since I was a child. I really love IDS’ approach to dance, since it includes so many different Indian dance forms and a variety of skill levels. I think as Marketing Officer I’d be committed to working with the Social Media Officer to ensure that we maintain and expand this approach.
