Hi, I'm Amala, and I’d love to run to be your IDS Executive Director! Over the past year, I’ve seen the passion, creativity, and close-knit spirit that defines this community. I’d love to help grow it further by fostering a welcoming, inclusive space for people to connect, grow and have fun!
I’ve been learning Bharatanatyam since age 7, completing grades 1-6, intermediate, and advanced 1. Balancing these exams with performances like my annual dance academy showcase and the West Midlands U.Dance competition has strengthened my organisational and time management skills- qualities I would bring to this role.
As a school prefect, I was a reliable and approachable presence and I gained valuable leadership skills which I will carry in this role.
Representing UCL in JB 2024 and performing in Rangeela 2025, I showcased teamwork, commitment and time management, all of which are crucial for taking on this role.
I also choreographed and taught dances for my annual school dance show which was a great opportunity to lead and share my passion for dance.
As Executive director, I would aim to expand this society even further with:
- a bigger annual dance showcase
- collaborations with other societies
- more guest-led workshops across a range of styles
Most importantly, I want to share my love for dance and foster an environment where everyone feels valued, inspired and excited to dance! I'd be honored to be your Executive Director next year!
