Filmmaking is for everyone – not just those with experience or expensive gear.
As Workshop Producer for 2025/2026, I want to lower barriers to film production at Film Soc, especially for beginners. My focus is on hands-on learning in a low-pressure environment, where members can build confidence with practical skills.
What I hope to introduce:
– Weekly, bite-sized workshops on basic camera functions and Film Soc equipment
– Structured Q&A events, starting with moderated conversations to support speakers and audiences
– Online resources (PowerPoints, walkthrough videos) to revisit technical workshop material
– More workshops at UCL East, plus collaborations with UAL London College of Fashion, and the Makeup & Drag societies
– Industry guests from festivals like BUFF, Raindance, FrightFest, and LEAFF to connect cinema with culture, education, and community
I also want to work towards resolving issues raised in previous years’ workshops by talking to returning committee members and listening to what worked, and what didn’t.
With experience as a Student rep and on the FoMI team, I’m confident in managing projects, staying organised, and communicating formally with guests and collaborators – all things that will help keep Film Soc workshops running smoothly behind the scenes.
I’m excited to support Film Soc as Workshop Producer. Thank you for your vote!
