Classics Society: Outreach Officer

Hello!

My name is Orlando, you might remember me from the last application season, but I’ll reintroduce myself. I’m a 1st year on the Literature, History and Archaeology route, yet who has decided to torture himself with studying both Greek and Latin.

Previously, I was studying Law at Southampton. However, Classics has always been my one true love, and I am very grateful to have made the switch: the people here are incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is unrivalled. I want to play a key role in helping to sustain that atmosphere, and for that reason I am applying to be your Outreach Officer for next year.

I had the great fortune of being able to attend some academic talks hosted by the Society (and I intensely regret missing out on the others!). I know how great they can be: both as a way to learn more about interesting topics that you might not be able to have the opportunity to cover in modules, and also as a way to meet fellow Classics members.

I would like to expand upon this, taking into account your interests and hopefully fostering even more interaction with members. This should allow you to inform us about what academics or topics you would like to see being organised. You could do this either by emailing or coming up to me, as I am very approachable and I am pretty much always in the Common Room!
