Human rights and Amnesty are important to me because I believe everyone deserves to be treated with respect, no matter where they’re from or what their background is. No one should have to live in fear or be denied basic freedoms. That’s why having an Amnesty society at UCL really matters — it gives students a space to learn more about what’s happening around the world, raise awareness, and actually take action. It’s not just about talking — it’s about making a real difference, even in small ways, and being part of a community that cares about justice and standing up for others. I would be a good treasurer because I am highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident working with numbers. As a maths tutor, I regularly manage complex calculations and explain financial or numerical concepts clearly and accurately. I'm comfortable handling budgets, tracking spending, and ensuring transparency—all essential qualities for managing the finances of a society effectively and responsibly.
