Hi Everyone, My name is Rafique Abdullah and I am a second year student studying Economics & Geography. I am standing for Outreach Director on the grounds:
I am a firm believer that one should have not only good but exceptional communication and public speaking skills. These skills add a lot to one’s personality, instil confidence into them, and differentiates them from the rest and prove very fruitful not only in their academic or practical life, but in every part of their life. As I have previous experience in public speaking via speeches and MUNs, I want more people to benefit from it, and the learning can expand. I think by becoming a member of this committee, I can add value to the working of the society so that members can gain more experience.
In my high school, I led the foundation of an after-school debating club where I equipped juniors with vital thinking and oratory skills required for debating and public speaking. Moreover, I have done volunteering in the past which includes working at a charity shop, care home and in Widows Empowerment Trust. In these experiences, I have worked with numerous people from various backgrounds, professions and age groups via different events, charity shows, campaigns etc. I believe that I can use these experiences and build upon them for the outreach program to try my level best to ensure that young people can learn and benefit from the experience which will prove beneficial for their futures.
Hi everyone, I’m Charlotte, a fourth year EISPS student! I’ve been part of UCLUNA since my first year and was the volunteering officer of the society in my second year! I really liked taking care of this aspect of UCLUNA and I would love to continue contributing to the growth of the outreach programme. I discovered MUN at university and quickly became passionate about it and more broadly the United Nations. As I’m finishing my degree, I want to share this interest with members of the society, especially by continuing to run the volunteering programme and making it grow. I also look forward to working with the rest of the committee to foster a sense of community in the society by organising fun social events that everyone can enjoy. Count on me for being at every single one of them ;) I believe I’m the ideal candidate for this role as I’m already familiar with communicating with the student’s union, UCL departments and students. Being a part of the volunteering team also helped me improve my teamwork skills, which will be extremely useful as the Outreach Director. I look forward to being a friendly face to everyone in the society!
