Student Action for Refugees Society: Volunteering Officer

Hi! I am Fikha from MSc Global Migration. I am now an Interim Volunteering Officer for UCL STAR. I came to the UK to study more about refugees through my master's degree, understanding how programmes for refugees are conducted, and give my best contribution academically and practically for the benefit of the refugees and the people involved. Being a Volunteer Officer for UCL STAR is one of contribution I have in mind. I have several volunteering and managing experiences back in Indonesia: from Ambassador for The Street Store Indonesia, teacher for refugee children, to coordinator for numerous volunteering committees. Currently, I am also building a non-profit, professional organisation for refugees in Indonesia and Indonesians.

My first days as Interim Volunteering Officer are about learning; I found them interesting and want to continue my best here. I am confident we can build a more solid volunteering and organisational partnership, a system that ensure continuous learning, a database that can be passed on to my successors, and our own volunteering programmes.
