Student Action Against Homelessness Society: President

Hello! I’m Claudia, and I’m running to be the President! 

I stepped up as the interim President earlier this year when the position needed to be filled, and have since been leading the committee to organise events including the welcome picnic, FEAST With Us and C4WS volunteering opportunities, outreach sessions, and a bake sale. I have also actively contributed to the society as the Volunteering Officer in 2022-23. I believe that everyone should have a safe home they can return to and thus feel strongly for action against homelessness, particularly having done an internship in a transitional shelter for the homeless. 

Having held this position as an interim President, I am familiar with Student Union procedures and hope to continue serving the society as president for the rest of the year. I believe I can execute this role well having also honed my communication and teamwork skills developed from past leadership experiences throughout my years of schooling (student councillor, society exco member, faculty committee member). I look forward to organising more opportunities for members to come together and do our part in our fight against homelessness, including volunteering, fundraising and awareness raising events, as well as collaborations with other UCL societies and KCL’s On The Streets.
