Mariam Vekua

I am passionate about the SSEES society and would love to contribute by listening to fellow freshers and ensuring their opinions are heard and taken into consideration.

My priority is to make sure everyone feels included, even if they are just beginning to discover the region. I will propose interesting and useful events for people of all levels of knowledge. I hope to encourage more first year students to participate and engage with the region outside of classrooms, in a more informal atmosphere. I have plenty of ideas on how to do that through cultural events.

I admire and appreciate all the work that has been done by the SSEES society so far. The way they managed to organise one of London's largest donation drives for Ukrainian refugees has truly inspired me. I would be delighted to work with this amazing committee in order to maintain the unique 'SSEES identity', which is especially significant due to the integration of SSEES into the Art and Humanities Faculty next year.

I believe my devotion to the SSEES society as well as my good communication skills make me a suitable candidate for the role. I am an empathetic and attentive listener, and I would be grateful for the opportunity to present your opinions to the committee. Moreover, I am experienced and trained in receiving and presenting feedback as I have previously held the position of an academic representative.

Attila G Mesterhazy

Community building, representing my colleagues, organizing events is the suitable job for me! I’ve been a representative of my class throughout high school, so the job would not be new for me. I’m fanatical towards East European countries, the analysis of their culture, language and political situation is my passion, hobby, and also as a Politics, Sociology and East European studies student my work. I was born and raised in the region at the beautiful city of Budapest. As a Hungarian national I’m really excited to have the chance to be a representative at a society, which’s specialization includes my home country!

Emrullah Yigit

Hello everyone!

My name is Emrullah, and I am a first-year Economics and Business with East European Studies undergraduate. I am an active member of the SSEES society, at least for the time being starting from the very day that I arrived to London, since I would like to immerse myself in a society that would supplement my enthusiasm of studying the history of East Europe. The society helps its members to have deep knowledge of politics and culture of Central&East Europe.
During my high school years, I took up leadership positions in many clubs including Dance, Maths, Sports and Model United Nations. As an extrovert person with strong communication and public speaking skills, I am intensely passionate about working with my peers in the society. I think I would be a well-suited candidate for this position as I am highly engaged in social activities. I will promote our society both on social media and face-to-face in various ways. I will put all my effort to attract prospective members of society during every possible freshers' organizations. I hope that my leadership skills like planning an event, timing, managing organizations and assisting team members will bring a lot to the table, and we have an exciting time within our society this year, 2022-2023!

I am sure that I will reach lots of freshers and work hard to expand our society.
