Election post
At the core is photography is people. The humanity of it all. Capturing people in their purest form, going about the day to day is what I find most beautiful about our craft, with the ability to freeze a moment in time and become a witness to tragedy or joy; a way of experiencing the vast and complex world we live in.
My passion for photography has lead me to take on the position of Captain of Photographic Arts at my previous school, overseeing both traditional film and digital programmes. I took pride in being a shoulder to lean on and being able to help my peers form relationships and deeper interactions based on our shared love for the craft. I was also Grad Class President, having plenty of experience in planning, setting up and leading social events for up to 500 people.
PhotoSoc is unique in that it is a space for both those who have spent their entire lives behind the camera or simply those who appreciate a good photograph. As your social secretary, I will ensure that there is something for everyone, whether your style be architectural or automobile photography. I would also like to expand beyond pure photography, incorporating events like collaging and zine creation or perhaps videography and editing as well. Trips to whimsical places to photograph would also be on my checklist and more collaboration with other clubs, allowing ourselves to contribute to the greater UCL community and connect with even more people in our proximity.
