As a member of Natsci society, I hope to take on the role to bring people from our course closer together through a variety of activities. For the past months I have met a lot of great people through the activities from the socials and it has been a great way to engage with uni life at UCL and to belong in a community. The nature of Natsci brings together such a diverse group of people with so many different interests. I hope to organise events that can cater to everyone and create an inclusive environment for us natural scientists to relax and socialise outside of lecture halls.

Naam Ghedia

Socials are really important to me. Last year, I didn’t really attend many of them because the timing would be crazy early in the night (7pm - which was NOT great for a budding wide-eyed young fresher who planned to start her night on the town at 10pm). Since almost all the events last year started at this time, I think a little bit of variation would be great. Even pushing it back by an hour would do wonders! I think also doing some more chill events would be great - just so that there are some more regular events going on. Maybe drinks at Institute with a side of pool? Or even a group dinner after lectures? Or something random like rock climbing if we’re feeling risky? By having more frequent events, it would help all of us get along with each other and create a stronger sense of community!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not all talk (just mostly). I’ve had some experience with planning events (surprise!). I planned my school’s prom and all the associated fundraisers - so I know how to put bread on the table. If you’ve made it this far, thank you and please vote for me because I’ll know how to show you a good time.
