James Lopez
Hi everyone. I'm James, a third-year History and Politics of the Americas student. I have been a member of MMA society for a little over a year now, and a regular attendee of training during that time. When I first joined the club I really appreciated both its welcoming atmosphere and how smoothly and effectively the society was run. If elected as your treasurer, I hope I can contribute towards continuing this.
Being treasurer is a role that requires commitment to the society and a high level of consistency. It requires being in constant communication with other members of the committee - particularly the President and social sec - and carefully allocating funds between social events and fights while leaving enough aside to ensure the general running of the club. I am confident I can do all this and more.
As a member of the board of Trustees for the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA), I have experience working in a team that oversees the management of a large budget, and I hope I would be able to use this to help me as treasurer. I have also served on various university committees in the past - for instance, the Government and Politics Society - and this has helped me develop valuable communication and organisational skills.
