Niamh Sanchez-Quinones Copley

I have always wanted to move into the legal sector and I understand how challenging it is to know where to start especially as a non-law student! I want to make it easier to get started especially for first years but for anyone looking to get into law.

I know that Open Day/Evening, Insight Scheme, Vacation Scheme and Training Contract applications have begun in a lot of cases and I want to make sure people feel like they have somewhere they can go to find information and resources to feel as prepared as they can.

I also want to create a space where people feel comfortable floating ideas, talking about application processes, sharing resources or talking about interesting legal ideas or cases and how they link to everyone’s respective degrees!

I am very excited to be a member of the LfA society!

Jiya Imran

I would like to stand for the position of first year representative because I want to assist the society in aiding students with their applications and create more opportunities for them, so they can succeed in making successful applications to start their legal careers. By having this position, I will be able to ask students first hand what changes they would like to see implemented in the society, and act accordingly with these wishes in order to ensure the society is benefiting its members. Having the role of FYR would also enable me to collaborate with students to coordinate events which would enhance the student experience with the society. This position would facilitate me to suggest, develop and implement solutions related to creating a more vibrant experience with Law For All Society. Being a non law student myself, I would like to enter a career in law and I would love to aid other students to achieve the same goal.

Mariella Yonge

I am a first-year Politics & International Relations interested in Litigation and Corporate M&A. I am standing as a First Year Representative because I am passionate about accessibility to Law, regardless of degree background. Although I chose to do my undergrad in Politics & International Relations, I have always had a strong interest in Law which was cemented by my participation in LFA events, such as Open Days and Pizza socials. Consequently, I would focus on encouraging fellow students to explore underlying interests in Law, dispelling the common misconception that a non-law degree is disadvantageous. I would strive to host more LFA events tailored to first-year students, including Open Day and First Year Insight Scheme application workshops. Getting involved early and learning to leverage a non-law background is paramount to application success! In addition, I would expand opportunities for first-year students to get involved with LFA, including blog writing competitions and novice mooting. I promise to contribute to an engaging society and hope you will consider me to be your First Year Representative!
