Hey. I have recent and relevant experience in both managing outdoor-related activities and student socials. I've just returned from 14-months studying in Norway where, among other things, I was the treasurer and expedition organiser for their version of a Hiking club. I was also employed by the university to organise and run social events for students. I'd really like to continue doing this at UCL.

Hikes can feel quite lonely when you don't know the people you're walking with, so my main priority would be to foster a better sense of community and bring old and new members together by having regular (at least weekly, if not more) London-based socials. These would vary from simple picnics in the park, to film nights, pub quizzes, orienteering, BBQs etc. I am a big believer in chilled socials where people can be themselves and form more lasting friendships.

Hi Y'all! I'm Caroline.

I'm from New York, and I've always loved hiking! Back home, my favorite trail is Breakneck Ridge in Cold Spring NY. After we do some climbing and a little racing against the sunset after debating which trail to follow that day, my friends and I always make it back to the same pizza joint in town for beers and garlic bread before we catch our train back to the city.

Hiking is something my friends and I have always enjoyed together. We looked forward to getting out of the city every term, and new people would tag along for the ride each time. The hiking club has really helped me less homesick, am I'm missing the foliage on our usual fall outing.

I want to be your social sec because I understand that so much of the appeal of hiking is not just getting to the highest peak but who you can meet along the way. Conquering a new path or finding that hidden spot always brought my friends and me closer together, and I can see the same in the people I've met in the hiking club here at UCL.

I love throwing events where everyone can have fun, and feel comfortable and included. Social media is a huge part of this, as it can be used to understand club members' preferences, get information out, and bring excitement around club events. I have experience both with event planning and social media, and I'm excited to be a more active member of the hiking club community!
