I am currently an MSc Women's Health student who is extremely passionate about feminism and gender equality as I believe it is important to highlight the voices of those who have previously been/currently are marginalised. I already work with charities such as The Pad Project to raise awareness about the stigma all menstruators experience and promote positive conversations about periods. Being the Postgraduate Representative for GenFem would allow me to continue encouraging discussions around feminism and gender, as well as raising awareness of the importance to be inclusive of everyone in society.
During my undergraduate at the University of Surrey, I was a social rep for the Psychology society and I helped run social events, as well as advertise the society within the university. I believe that this will help me as a GenFem Postgraduate Representative by using my detailed planning and organisation skills. I have many ideas for future events including both within the university, around London and in collaboration with The Pad Project. I have already been sharing many of the GenFem events within my postgraduate cohort, so would be able to include many more postgrads in the events. Additionally, being part of other societies at UCL I will be able to reach a wider group of postgrads, to increase engagement.
