Izzy Davies

Hi everyone! I’m Izzy, I’m a final year Anthropology student, and I’m currently interim President of Free Hype.

I’ve worked really hard over the last few weeks/months to try and get this society up and running again after lots of complications because I think Free Hype could offer such amazing opportunities and experiences for UCL students.

I have loads of ideas for activities and events that I want to start implementing now FH is back. I learnt a lot from my recent year abroad at UC Berkeley where they have very established and renowned student-run design clubs and I would love to share some of these ideas with UCL.

This year I want to run workshops for members to learn design skills, host speaker and networking events with industry professionals from the design/creative sector, and bring back the society’s core activity of matching keen creative students with real-world design projects. I would also love to run a 'designathon' where we invite big established organisations to set us a brief and then we work in teams to come up with ideas and designs that fulfil it (e.g. at Berkeley, SF MOMA set us a challenge to design a poster for their upcoming Halloween Event).

I’m also personally excited by this society because I love graphic and 3d design and it’s a career I want to go into once I graduate, so I want to create an environment where UCL students feel supported and inspired to explore personal and/or career interests in design and the creative world the way I have been.
