Meriam Kamel

I’m interested in becoming Egyptian society's next welfare officer as I want to contribute to helping our members be aware of the mental health support available at UCL, alongside making sure all events run smoothly. Having a support system is something I strongly advocate for and is something I would like to implement if I get this role.

I believe I would be beneficial for this role due to my past experiences and my upbringing as a child. I have always been surrounded in my culture and heritage and it is something I am proud to have. This will help when organising events and ensuring people are well looked after as I will be able to understand any concerns that people may have.

I would also like to join and learn from other universities to see how they are supporting their members and try to mimic it for our new society. Becoming a welfare officer is very important to me as it allows me to give back to the society, as well as provide me with valuable experience that I can learn from and transfer it into different sectors of my life alongside help improve the society as a whole.
