Firstly, I aim to be more involved in the UCL community, especially taking part in organising activities that allow new students to have the same inviting experience to a university life that I had in my first year. By joining the committee of the Dutch and Flemish society, I can apply my knowledge, enthusiasm, and social skills to enhance the experience of fellow members of the society.

Secondly, I have previous experience with running student activities through participating in my school's student board for seven years. In that role I led many community building activities, worked closely with the staff and administration of the school, and actively engaged with the student body. I aim to do the same for this society.

Finally, I am running for the position of treasurer after being encouraged by my peers. Furthermore, I am taking a number of modules related to finance, and I strongly believe that I have the necessary skills to meet the expectations of the society. Taking up the role as treasurer will also allow me to gain more real life experience in handling finances.

As the co-founder of the Dutch and Flemish society and treasurer up until now, I have had the privilege of experiencing the society from its very beginning and growing phase, which I hope to continue, until now. This allowed me to experience which events are received best and hence where to spend our money effectively. I also used this time to make connections to related societies at UCL and other London universities such as LSE, Kings and Imperial, allowing for more large-scale events where we can meet more people who share our interest across London.

I will work to ensure that we continue to grow and can have a large offering, both in terms of quantity and quality, of events getting the maximum use out of our available funds. I will use the connections I already made and expand that network to continue to help organizing events, both within UCL and with other London universities. I am also aiming to secure additional funding through the student union and sources outside of university, where I had the opportunity to start connections during the last year as co-founder and treasurer.

In summary, I am looking to further increase the resources we have and the efficiency with which we use them, so we can make the most of our time here. I really enjoy being a part of this community and hope to continue contributing to what we can do! :)
